01About the Maker
Enjoy a Moment with Trees During Tea Time
Look beyond a tree’s canopy and taste its leaves in a cup of tea. Nagano-based yaso transforms trees into tea and fragrance products, creating a connection between forests and everyday life.
Yaso in Yasocha means “many things.” Through its tea, yaso shares the idea that forests and forestry hold many fascinating possibilities. An everyday cup offers a way to notice the differences between trees.
02About This Product
Birch leaves, brewed into a smooth cup of tea
804 “Hōji Birch” is a tea made from the leaves of birch trees grown in Nagano Prefecture, in the high-altitude mountainous region at the foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains. It makes use of the leaves of this tree, which is known for its white trunk.
A distinctive roasting and blending process creates a mellow, easy-drinking tea. The maker describes a refreshing aroma reminiscent of the highlands. Each box contains twelve 1.5 g tea bags, ready for everyday tea time.
03How to Enjoy It
Take Time to Brew a Warm Cup
Place the tea bag in the teapot and pour 120–150 ml of freshly boiled water (100°C) over it. Let it steep for 1–2 minutes, then enjoy. Savor the flavor of birch leaves one cup at a time.
Yamazakana Yamaki recommends enjoying its teas first without adding anything—as an accompaniment after a meal or during a moment of relaxation. Focus on the texture and aroma, and savor the forest-sourced ingredients that set these teas apart from your everyday teas.
04Choosing Between Birch and Red Pine
Different Leaves, Different Aromas
Product 801 in the same series, “Hōji Akamatsu,” is a tea made from 100% roasted red pine needles. Compare it with Product 804, which uses birch leaves, and savor the distinct aromas of each tree. Please follow the brewing instructions on each product label to enjoy them to the fullest.
